what does work mean to you?
“No one has the right to sit down and feel hopeless. There’s
too much work to do.” This was said by Dorothy Day. What work is she talking
about? I think there are many different genres of work especially for the
different generations who read this quote. Some may think that work is actually
having a job and not being lazy; others may think that it involves things like “world
peace” “trying to make the world a better place” “global warming”. I think work
for our generation is having a life. Not being a hobo living off the street but
someone who has a career, has gone to school, and won’t have to declare
bankruptcy halfway through their life. There are so many people in the world
today who haven’t finished college or never started. Most of them are the part
of America that is on welfare. In all honesty welfare should be given on
stricter guidelines because not all but several chose to just live off welfare
instead of actually trying to make a life for themselves. Yet this won’t apply
to all generations.
Let’s go back about
70 years. If someone read this quote back then they might think that I need to
do good for my country, I need to be in the military. The wives of men might
think I need to be a better mom; I need to stay home more, cook more, and clean
more. These things don’t particularly compare to what we have today. Let’s go
back 150 years. The work was much more different. You had to wake up at the
butt-crack of dawn and plow the fields, tend to the gardens. Some people do
this now but then it was more along the lines of life or starvation if you didn’t.
Work then wasn’t about trying to fix global warming; it was about surviving
without what we have today.
Work is a word that anyone can take and run with, metaphorically
of course. People can explain work in 100 different ways. Depending on where you’re
from and the time frame it means different things. Some people deem work as something
that gets your heart rate going others describe it helping someone out, some
say it’s what you have to wake up for every day. What does work mean to you?

where do you see yourself?
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? That is the question
that I have been asked numerous amounts of times. In all honesty I have no
idea. I can guess where I can see myself but in all honesty that’s more of a
want instead of what might actually happen. The reason I say this is because I am
not sure what I want to do with my life yet. I haven’t chosen a career path or
even found a specific job that I really want to do. I do however see me married
with a guy who I love, if not the guy I am with now, then whoever. I see me
finishing up college or trying to get a job in whatever career path I chose and
I see myself starting my life. 10 years from now I will be 26 and I think that
is a good age to start your life out. I will not be in school past 26 because I
think you have to start getting your life together plus I would want to have
the rest of my twenties to still feel young and not worry about school. Not saying
30 is old but 20’s are awesome. J
I am not sure if I want kids but I figure since I will have been married for a
couple years that I will probably be thinking about starting a family. Another
thing I have thought about doing is finishing college and getting a job and
then maybe travel the world before I ever start to worry about family. By the
time my mom was 26 she already had me but was not married and didn’t finish
college but she was living a happy life. She and I went to Disneyland and
places like that. If this situation happened to me I would like to do the same
but I hope to be happily married before any kids come into the picture.

Who ya gonna call?.. Not Ghostbusters
If I was in a moment of crisis I would call my papa Kenny. He
is sort of like a Chuck Norris on crack. He would also do anything for me. My
papa is not someone you want to mess with, especially when he is mad. Plus if
any of us grandkids were in a crisis he would be there faster than you could
call for help. I love my papa, besides my dad, he is about the only man I trust.
With the crap that goes on in our family he is always solid. You always know where
to go when something is going down. My papa used to be a real hard ass and when
the grandkids came into the picture he kind of turned into a teddy bear that
you didn’t want to catch on a bad day. If I were ever in a crisis this is who I
would call. If I was in an emotional crisis he would be there for me, if it was
like the movie “Taken” then he would be my Liam Neeson. My papa would be my go
to guy in a sticky situation.
Are we really alone?
Are we alone? Is there really something out there? People stew
over this question all the time, for a matter of fact they have for many years.
People have seen siting’s of flashing lights or “orbs” fly through the sky. There
are so many things that can explain them but not all of them. That is how
people have come to believe there really is life out there. In all honesty, if
there really is, there technology is so far advanced that we wouldn’t know where
to begin to try to figure it out. I am not sure if I believe that there are
other life forms out there. I don’t know if it would be cool or kind of scary.
I have seen lots of movies where it doesn’t necessarily turn out for the
better. Plus, I am more of a religion facts kind of person. The bible has never
mentioned anything beyond us, but at the same time some people say that because
the bible didn’t mention anything that it could be a yes or a no. This subject
is a lot like space. There’s no end and we will probably never know. The
massive thought of space can blow your mind and I think that with how big space
is that not being alone is possible.

My last summer as a high schooler.
This summer will be the last summer that I will return to
high school. It’s scary to think that in just a short amount of time I will be
starting my actual life. I have been planning a senior trip since I was a
freshman, along with my dad throwing in some ideas, there are so many options.
There’s even more when money isn’t a problem. A couple ideas that I have thrown
out there are: Alaskan cruise, cruise the Bahamas, any other kind of cruise,
going to Paris, going to Italy, and my all-time dream, back packing across
Ireland. That has been my dream ever since I was a little girl. I have always
thought Ireland was a beautiful place. When my uncle went and come back with
pictures and places to visit I fell in love with it that much more. I don’t really
know what got me fascinated with Ireland but ever since I was little that’s my
dream vacation spot. I hope to one day be able to go there, whether it’s just a
family vacation or for a honeymoon.
That is how I would spend my last summer before college. I
would probably spend a little more than a month over in Ireland. I love the way
they talk and how beautiful the rolling hills and everything are. There are
plenty of things to see as well. When my uncle went, he visited a place called
the Kissing Rock, can’t exactly remember the name. Anyways, you hang off this
cliff and there is a stone underneath and if you kiss the rock it will bring
you good luck. I am not one for superstitious things but that would just be a
cool experience. I would drive across Ireland looking at the different places
to stay and see, just soaking in the wonderful scenery and the cultural background.
I would love to be able to take this trip and I hope to before I can’t.

Education in my eyes
Getting an education is the best thing you can do in your
life. I wouldn’t say that you are better than someone else if you are educated
because some people are more common sense smart than book smart and they can
make it a long ways in life almost the same as anyone else who is educated.
Getting an education makes your life easier and anymore almost every job
requires a college education, not just a high school diploma. I also think that
having an education makes you more responsible about things because you have
learned about the outcomes of certain situations. I know that being educated in
personal finance will help me be better at keeping track of my finances. Being
educated in math is a really good thing because in almost every job you use
math. Being common sense smart will get you through life but not easily. Both
of my parents didn’t finish their college education and they have had to work
their butts off to get to where they are today. If they had a college education
then they would have good jobs that they actually like and they wouldn’t be
living from paycheck to paycheck. Education is really important in life. If you
never get an education there are certain things you won’t be able to do. People
have to have a proper education to make it in life. Education is beyond
important and with how jobs are today, there is almost no jobs that will hire someone
without a college education.

What can our world live without?
The world today would be better off without a lot of things.
There are some that are my own personal opinion that some wouldn’t agree with
so I won’t get into those. I think that the world today would be fine without
the invention of tanning beds. The only thing a tanning bed does for you, in
all honesty, is give you skin cancer. Some people tend to become addicted to it
and end up never having any problems or some end up with severe cases of skin
cancer. Tanning gets you a nice looking skin color but if you keep doing it
forever, even if you don’t get skin cancer, you will start to look like an old
lady even if you’re young. I watched a show about a girl who was addicted to
tanning and she went three times a day every day. She had to go to 3 different
places because tanning places won’t let you tan more than once a day. I think that’s
a giant smack in the face with a huge sign saying tanning is really bad for
you! Now I won’t completely bash tanning because I am tanning for prom and I will
next year to. Even though I am only doing it for a short little while it can
still have bad effects on my skin. There are other ways around tanning, for
instance: tanning lotion, tanning spray, or actually getting a spray tan. You
can go to Wal-Mart and buy a can or bottle of tanning stuff for cheaper than
you can to go tanning. I personally don’t think a little tanning is going to
affect you enough to hurt you; people do it before weddings, prom, or some other
formal gatherings. Do not get addicted to it though because that is something that
WILL hurt you.

What is courage?
Courage:
There are a lot of ways to describe courage. Courage, to me,
can be explained in several different ways. Courage could be something small or
something huge. I would explain courage as something someone has that takes a
lot of guts and will power. You can have courage in a scary situation or you
can have courage when something bad has happened. I think the school teacher
from the elementary school shooting, that happened a while back, had a lot of
courage. She hid her students and was courageous enough that she told the
gunman they were somewhere else and then was shot. I also think courage is something
like voicing your opinion in front of a lot of people even if they discriminate
against you. Just like the movie “Courageous”. All of the men have to go
through God to get the courage they need to deal with the tough situation that
they faced in life. The actual definition for courage is mental or moral strength to venture,
persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. Courage can be found in
someone at the worst of times but they get that courage from God. When they ask
him to guide them in their struggles and to gain the strength to get through
it, he supplies all the courage that is needed.

my life sucked up until that day.
My boyfriend and I had broken up
over the summer and we never really lost connection but we both tried to date
other people and forget about it all. Then on November 11th he came
to my house because he had just gotten a new bow and wanted my dad to help him
work with his cites and everything. When he stepped out of his truck we both
just kind of froze. That wasn’t the first time we had seen each other since the
breakup but it was the closest we had been. We couldn’t keep our eyes off each
other. We could both see the hurt in each other because we knew we were with
other people but after that look of “I love you” went across his face I knew it
was over. After a while of shooting we started to get more comfortable and we
started to open up and talk about what happened. It was about 8 o’clock and my
dad went inside and we were left alone. My parents and his parents were
desperate to get us back together because the breakup was really stupid and our
families loved each other. I looked at Aaron and said, “I think it’s time we
talk about everything…” He replied, “I agree.” We hopped up on the tailgate of
my truck and poured our hearts out. We laughed, I cried, he got teary eyed, and
we couldn’t let go of each other. That night we decided we would try again but
we wouldn’t actually announce to the world till we were sure it’s what WE
wanted. As soon as we decided everything we called the people we were currently
with and told them what happened. In all honesty we thought it would be worse
than what it was; they both said that they knew it would happen sooner or later
because we never would shut up about each other. A week later we decided to
make it official and our parents had a big get together because it was no longer
awkward to have the families together. We also decided that since we never
really lost touch we would continue the original date. So, March 20, 2013, it
will be 2 years and I couldn’t be happier.

Drama is not for me!!!
Easy-going:
I am a very easy-going person; I get along with almost everyone.
I make friends easily because I am easy to talk to and I am just a loveable
person once you get to know me. :P Some people say I have a bad temper but that’s
not the case. I am super mellow and EASY-GOING when it comes to drama but when
you push me past my limits that’s when the tables turn. My dad used to make
jokes because I am pretty much the only girl in my family that doesn’t fit the
stereotypical “girl” character. I steer clear of everything that could possibly
make me a non easy-going person. The reason I got to be like this was because
of my family. That might sound like it’s a good thing but it’s not, certain
people that I was decently closed to hurt me, almost to the point of never
talking to them again. That is also why I have some trust issues, but who can
blame me? I mean if you can’t trust your family who can you trust? Anyways,
after that big situation happened I decided that I would never be like that. I would
always let people know that they could trust me, I would never try to start
something with people, and I would never create drama. I decided that the best
way to accomplish those things would be to become an easy-going person and from
that point on that is what I became.
